Dart Music Festival 2013 – Jazz Night is Back.

We are delighted to host an informal evening of top quality music with

The Martin Dale Quartet featuring Bruce Adams
Martin Dale

We are thrilled to welcome Martin Dale – one of the busiest and most popular saxophonists in the South West – and his Quartet, who will again be wowing the audience with a relaxed and informal evening of simply superb music.
Martin runs his own quartet, often appearing as a guest soloist and making regular appearances at UK Jazz festivals where he has performed with Lee Gibson, Alan Barnes, and Mark Nightingale.
He has also worked on the Q.E.2 as lead alto player, backing such artists as Neil Sedaka, Petula Clark, and Tom Jones, and has recorded for the BBC on radio and television sound tracks.
To date he has released 8CDs which have been played on both Radio 2,3 and Jazz FM.

For the Flavel Jazz Night Martin and his Quartet will be joined by well-known musician Bruce Adams.

Not only is Bruce (playing trumpet and flugelhorn) one the jazz scene’s most dramatic and stimulating performers, he is also a tremendously affable and entertaining companion.
Three times winner of the Best Trumpet category in the British Jazz Awards, Bruce is a regular guest star with bands such as Kenny Baker’s Dozen, Peter York’s Tribute to Gene Krupa, the BBC Big Band, the Scottish Radio Orchestra and the Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.
Bruce has often worked as a special guest soloist with both the Scottish Radio Orchestra and the BBC Big Band, and his long-running musical partnership with saxophonist Alan Barnes has produced many plaudits and acclaimed recordings.

This fine collection of musicians will be playing together all evening in two sets with a 30 minute interval. The event promises something to please everyone, with an eclectic mix of well known ‘standards’, Latin tunes, a ballad or two – and not forgetting a large spoonful of ‘Be-Bop’!
