Dart Music Festival – Keeping it Local…

There’s a whole host of local organisations and musicians to enjoy this year,  from children to classical to choral to soul to jazz – and much more!

Just take a look at what’s on offer over the weekend…

The event kicks off on Friday with the children from Dartmouth Academy and surrounding schools performing on the Bandstand.

They’ll be singing the Town Anthem and many more songs they’ve been busy learning for weeks – what better way to start a Festival than with a happy band of singing youngsters..?

Then there will be the Dartmouth Town Ringers, a Festival Choral Evensong with Chorus Ecclesiae directed by Robin Brett, a Festival Eucharist sung by the Parish Choir, music in the church from the pupils of Jessica Heywood, and concerts from Dartmouth Orchestra with soloist Kathy Kenny, and from Dart Festival Chorus with ‘Around the World in Sixty Minutes!’

We’ll also have concerts from The British Royal Britannia Naval College Volunteer Band, local a capella choir Dartmouth Rock, and soul/funk/jazz from local bands James Harris’ Beatbelt, Sax Appeal and The Misfits.

Just a little further afield, we have the Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra, The Devon Youth Wind Orchestra, Torbay Ukulele Club and we’re joined by Vicky Hadland’s Devonly Voices Community Choir from Totnes.
