Hannah Capstick with Alex Wilson
Hannah Capstick DipABRSM (1999-present) is a young flautist from Torquay, studying at the Purcell School in London under renowned flautists Anna Pope and Abigail Burrows. Having begun her studies at the Torbay and South Devon Music Centre, she went on to lead the Devon Youth Wind Orchestra and tour Europe, working closely with the National Youth Orchestra, and taking part in work experience with Live Music Now and Great Britain’s Royal Marines’ Band Service.
She performed her first solo concerto with orchestra in Turkey with the Purcell School String Orchestra and members of the Türkiye Gençlik Filarmoni Orkestrası in 2018, and is looking forwards to making her British debut at the Dartmouth Music Festival in Summer 2019. Hannah is deeply interested in all areas of music, and thus has chosen to read music at Oxford University next year, but looks forwards to returning frequently to work with young musicians in her area.
Hannah began her studies in Devon with Rosemary Sage, through whom she discovered her love of music and the flute. She is extremely grateful for all the years of teaching and encouragement Rose gave her, and will always recognise their friendship as the starting point from which her musical career grew.
