John Fairhurst is the rising star of modern British guitar music. 2014’s critically acclaimed full-band debut, ‘Saltwater’ continues to gain rapid momentum following a world-wide publishing deal with London’s Metropolis Studios. 2017 at DMF, with his full band Acoustic Guitar Magazine USA, recently hailed Fairhurst as one of the Top 3 Resonator guitar players worldwide – the only European on the list.
The Guardian described his debut album ‘Joys of Spring’ as ‘Truly exquisite’. His follow-up album ‘Saltwater’ was met with similar critical acclaim. John’s unusual vocal style regularly draws comparisons with the likes of Howlin’ Wolf, Tom Waits, Captain Beefheart and Mark Lanegan whilst his virtuoso guitar skills are oft referenced alongside such luminaries as Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Jack White, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. He has played alongside some of his lifelong heroes, Johnny Winter and Ten Years After.
Two forthcoming albums are currently in production for release in 2018; a third solo LP and a new heavy electric album with long term collaborators Toby Murray on Drums and Justin Kool on bass. He will again be working with his long term go-to producer Alex Beitzke (Prince, Ed Sheeran, Florence & the Machine, Nigel Kennedy) and producer Bradley Spence (Radiohead, Stereophonics, Iron Maiden, The Strypes, Kasabian).
