Scottish flautist Mark Taylor is a recent graduate of the Hochshule für Musik und Tanz, Köln where he studied with Professor Robert Winn. He received his early musical training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Junior Academy of Music and the Music School of Douglas Academy.  Mark will be performing with Nathan Tinker as his accompanist:

A multi-award winner, Mark has been recipient of; The Countess of Munster Star Award, The Wiseman Prize form The Sir James Caird Travelling Scholarship Fund and The June Alison Woodwind Award from The Martin Musical Scholarship Fund. Mark is Currently on trial for Principal flute of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and appears regularly with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and Royal Northern Sinfonia. He was also member of Southbank Sinfonia 2017. His chamber ensemble, À Deux Duo with harpist Gabriella Jones enjoy a varied performance schedule including tours of Scotland, Wales and Germany They have a growing reputation for pushing the boundaries of the flute and harp repertoire by transcribing works for other instruments and adding other instrumentalists to the duo including piano, percussion and french horn.

Nathan Tinker, Mark’s accompanist, obtained his Bachelors of Music(Hons) from the Royal College of Music in 2011 where he studied with Gordon Fergus-Thompson on piano, Jonathan Cole on composition and Michael Moran on jazz piano. Primarily a collaborative pianist, Nathan has performed in the UK, at the Barbican Centre, Hampton Court House, St. Martin’s in the Fields, St. James Piccadilly, the Royal Albert Hall and Wigmore Hall; and internationally, Corsica, Italy, Spain, Romania and his native Japan. He was the winner of the Guildhall Accompanist Prize, 2016, was awarded the Concert Recital Diploma at the GSMD and competed in the Oxford Lieder Young Artist Platform in 2018. Since 2016 Nathan has been performing with flautist, Mark Taylor first for the Philharmonia Emerging Artist series and currently taking engagements through the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.
