Vickers Bovey Duo’s performances have been described as ‘beautifully effortless’ (Mark Eden) and ‘with truly uncanny unanimity’ (The Daily Telegraph). St Petrox march 2016

Escape the crowds for an afternoon and early evening’s beautiful music at St Petrox Church with Esperanto (sublime classical and flamenco guitar) and The Arioso String Quartet (from Bach to Cole Porter) – enjoying afternoon tea at The Castle Café and interval glass of wine at one of the most beautiful spots in the Southwest!

An exciting new duo featuring Mark Barnwell along with guitarist Jon Boyes.

They provide an exciting sound, combining elements of Flamenco and Latin guitar music, with harmonised runs and flamboyant improvisation. Their setlist comprises a combination of Flamenco/Latin standards, some improvisation and a few contemporary numbers given the Spanish treatment, including Hotel California.

Mark says: “It’s such great fun to play with Jon – we both know enough about Flamenco music to say ‘hey, let’s do a Farruca today’ and have some fun with the playing. I particularly like the fact that we are both rhythm and lead players so we can alternate parts, and sometimes harmonise lines together.”
