ANTIMATADOR (pic above)
Antimatador are an 8-strong synth laden, horn heavy outfit from SW:UK, fusing hiphop, funk, jazz, electronica, soul, rock and DnB. They deliver a nuclear explosion of high energy and positive vibes and have crafted a sound all of their own. Catch them if you can – this is a band you won’t want to miss.
Local jazz sensation Louise Parker is back with a new funk-ed up sound. Influenced by the funk sounds of the 70s, 80s, and 90’s Louise Parker & the Funkatronic Four will be mixing up southern soul with an upbeat funk set, followed by chilled DJ set

“This year’s next big thing” London Evening Standard
The Rhythm Machine are a kicking 9 piece band that currently play throughout the UK and Europe.
People love to hear the kind of music these guys play…James Brown, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin to Bruno Mars, Celio Green, Amy Winehouse and Paloma Faith, and a host of old and new classic hits – all played with enjoyment, energy and enthusiasm that translates to audiences of all ages.
With a history spanning 30 years the current line up showcases players with a wealth of experience having backed up some of the biggest names in the business, expect an exhilarating horn driven Soul, Funk and R&B ride that will leave you breathless.
“Joanna Cooke has a voice that draws attention wherever it’s heard.”
Starting with a passion for performance singing – from primary school in her home town of Lyme Regis – to lead roles in local musicals and talent show appearances in her secondary years, Joanna was encouraged by listeners, teachers and family to study music and continue singing in her later school years.
With influences when growing up from the music of classic R’n’B and Soul greats such as Aretha Franklin, Bessie Smith and Nina Simone, as well as old Blues masters like Muddy Waters and Howling Wolf, Joanna has since written songs across many genres from blues to electro, soul to pop, but these artists remain sources of real inspiration.
Continuing her commitment to a musical future, Joanna went on to gain a university degree in music in Plymouth, a city where she remains based. Successful ventures into both the local live music scene and dance music vocals followed.
She is joined by Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Nathan Austin for a performance not to be missed.
We’re delighted to welcome this unique lady back to the Festival. She describes herself as:
“A soulful singer from the Deep South West…a composer/performer of original tunes and sly interpretations…a comic poetess, doing stand-up poetry on the subjects of womanhood, technology and futurism, afro-ness, fantasy and sci-fi, age and wisdom, fashion and music, word-trickery and language……oh and a fully ordained Dudeist Priestess in the Church of the Latter-Day Dude”
With an introduction like that, can you afford to miss her…??
Born in Stratford Upon Avon, this talented member of The Porter Family (they’re performing at the Flavel Church this year) is a musician and guitar teacher based in Warwickshire.
His main acts acts include Barney & Jerv, Wired, the Barney Porter Trio and solo projects.
His music has influences from Wilco, The Band, Ryan Adams, The Staves, Bob Dylan, De La Soul, Beck, Beastie Boys, Ben Folds Five, Hot Chip, White Stripes, Dutch Uncles, Jimi Hendrix.
We’re very much looking forward to welcoming Barney back again this year!
Based in Devon, Dodgey Practice are a well polished professional band with tight horns, great vocals from the three singers and a kicking rhythm section.
They say: “The overall experience and talent of the nine members of Dodgey Practice makes us stand out over similar bands, and we have a set list that will keep everyone on the dance floor all night!
You’ll often find them in Exeter, Plymouth and Torbay (where most of the band members come from), but they’ll play from Bristol down through Somerset – e.g. Bridgwater & Taunton – throughout Devon and down into Cornwall. They are renowned locally as a band that delivers its classic brand of high-energy funky/soul/disco music with total commitment to entertainment and performance.
The band has been around since 1995 and originally started with a bunch of Doctors and Nurses from a local hospital (hence the name, and the misspelling!!). All the original members have moved on but the band continues to go from strength to strength.
Their unique brand of high energy funk, soul, disco and pop music builds its way from the tapping of your toes to singing along at the top of your voice – there’s nothing better than busting a move to this nine piece party band..!
