Hailing from Bristol, Singer-Songwriter Phil receives a warm Dartmouth welcome back. We’ve been lucky enough to hear him perform several times at the Festival and are looking forward to seeing him again.

velvet and stone 2016

Velvet & Stone are Lara, Kat and Holly. A three woman alternative/ indie folk group based in Devon. Combining rich vocals, acoustic guitar and soaring violin, the trio provide an original take on a traditional genre.

Drawing upon personal stories, melancholy West Country tales and landscapes, they create a serene, haunting and original sound. The band all have their roots in a small village in Devon, where they met in 2014.

Soon after, this talented trio won a singer-songwriter competition, giving them the opportunity to record their first record – The Storm. This release further strengthens the band’s growing reputation, built from regularly gigging, appearances at Somersault Festival, Sidmouth Folk Festival, and Dart Music Festival 2015, in addition to plays on BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio and Balcony TV.

Their debut record was pre-released in December 2015, and will be released and promoted internationally in April 2016. Featuring a collection of original songs including ‘Patchwork’, ‘The Storm’, and ‘Fisherman’s Blues’, it’s produced by Jack Henderson and features eminent musicians Ben Nicholls and Andrew Twee

The band was formed at the son’s conception, “I always wanted a little band” said the father at the birth. Hidden away in the North Devon countryside, two guitars and three voices play songs of love, death, hope and failure.
