After much consideration following the announcement of the Coronation of our King on Saturday 6th May 2023, the volunteer DMF committee have decided by a resounding majority vote to move the dates for 2023.
Many multi-faceted factors have been taken into account, including seeking opinions from those to whom this may affect as well as financial and logistical factors.
Our free music festival was created 25 years ago for our town of Dartmouth. At the very core of our principles is the fact we lay on a fantastic event for our community and surrounding villages.
There are too many unknowns around the coronation for us to continue to plan for 2023 with any degree of certainty, and start planning we must. There have been no official announcements regarding placement of bank holidays or the timing of the Coronation itself and there will be many events planned within our town, and around the country, which could impact our audience.
We are in the position where we have to make a decision now in order to be able to put on next years event. It is sound business judgement for us as custodians of the Dart Music Festival and it’s longevity as well as those whom we aim to benefit, that we move the dates to the weekend of the 19/20/21 May 2023. We understand this change has implications for some, but hope you will appreciate the generosity of our audience, along with that of our sponsors, is the only way we can afford to run what is, a completely free festival.
