Joanna Cooke

Joanna Cooke has a voice that mesmerises whenever it is heard.

From live performances in intimate local venues to recordings on tracks played across the world her versatility and soul shine through.

This Devon based artist’s musical pathway included hearing records at home by blues masters Howling Wolf and Muddy Waters, performance singing in school and talent shows, music studies and early song writing, followed by a music degree. Along the way, she drew inspiration from the sublime voices of soul and jazz giants Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Ella Fizgerald and Bessie Smith.

Joanna writes songs across many genres from blues to electro, soul to pop and her high quality vocals plus top-line writing skills have been used internationally by dance music producers in Brazil, Australia, South Africa and Europe.

Her 2016 EP ‘Wound Up’ displays a strong range of material, providing the perfect platform for the soulful vocals and melodic qualities that lie at the heart of Joanna’s growing reputation. This, along with a busy live schedule and a growing fan-base, had attracted increased media interest with TV and radio appearances on both the BBC One TV (South West) Spotlight Summer Sessions and the ‘BBC Introducing’ Devon shows.
