John Fairhurst

“Sucker punch solos and a gravel swilled belter of a voice.”

This British rock guitar phenomenon, originally from Wigan, has had a packed 2016 including a set at Glastonbury and will be joining this year’s Dart Music Festival line-up. Having honed his craft on the road, the result is an inspiring wall of sound rooted in his northern blues background with a deep-south attitude.

With influences from K. Sridhar and his own travels through Asia, John’s music has a distinctly eastern feel. He combines this with a bottle-neck style blues, referencing the likes of Son House and Bukka White, comparisons to the fingerpicking of John Fahey and leaning towards the psychedelic 60’s rock of Hendrix and Led Zeppelin.

John’s music is a real melting-pot of diverse musical traditions and he truly epitomises the modern day wandering blues man with trademark howling vocals; think Captain Beefheart meets Tom Waits.
