Welcome to the second newsletter of 2019 for the Dart Music Festival.
Many thanks to those of you who gave me feedback following the first, and in particular I’m pleased how many have been tuning in to the new YouTube channel.
It has been going now for 21 years and this will be the 22nd year – from its inception it has focused on providing “music for all” and has remained a “free to attend” festival focusing particularly on the local community throughout. These are very special principles and ones which the directors and I want to fully support and continue.
We also feel that there is an opportunity to widen the legacy of the festival beyond its three days a year and to support musical education and local musical talent in a wider way.
Registering ourselves as a charity is our first step towards achieving these goals and we look forward to sharing more with you as the festival grows.
The sponsorship letters have now been sent out, as have our new “festival friend” letters and if you would like to help you can sponsor or donate to us via our own website via this link.
It does cost us in the region of £80,000 to run the event each year and I cannot stress the importance and significance of each and every contribution that is made to us to the viability of the festival – we also greatly appreciate it.
I am delighted to announce a new major sponsor for the next 3 years – Platform 1. From the 2019 event, the stage in the Royal Avenue Gardens will be known as the “Platform 1 Main Stage”. Huge thanks to Matt and all the team at Platform 1 for continuing their partnership with us.
We will continue with a number of the improvements and enhancements we made last year – for example the introduction of the recyclable and reusable plastic cups.
I’m also pleased to say that this year we will be launching a “Dart Music Festival App” for those of you who would prefer to be able to view the programme and details of lineups via your mobile phone. All details to follow in a future newsletter.
Tickets are still available at The Compass Office and Art Supplies Shop on Higher Street and if there are any left, they will be available “on the door”.
