Wonderful Workshops at Dart Music Festival

The DMF Team are delighted to present a great selection of workshops during the Festival:

Loop Machine workshop with Ash Mandrake – for all ages, singing, using a loop machine and having fun!
Music with Mummy – this ever popular workshop is back for the third year.  For children under 5.  Help Carol Holbrow celebrate her teddy Reg’s 4th birthday with some singing and musical fun.

Lost Sound Chorus

Singing workshop with Sandra Smith (Lost Sound Chorus)  – top tips to illustrate key skills necessary for singing in choirs.

Ivy Lane Youth Centre

We are delighted to have Ivy Lane Youth Centre involved with the Festival this year. The Centre will be opening its doors on Saturday 11th May for a drop-in day of workshops, including a guitar master class with Conrad Harpham, and a DJing workshop.  A great opportunity for young budding musicians to experiment with music.
Simon from the Centre says:

‘The Dartmouth Youth Service Team are looking forward to providing young people and the community with a chance to take part in DJ and guitar workshops, experiment with musical instruments and look at the facilities on offer at Decks Youth Venue. The event will be open to all ages and will be run on a drop-in basis so you can stay for as long or a little as you like.’
Running times are 11-4, with a guitar  workshop at 12.

RSVP Bhangra Band
And last but definitely not least – RSVPBhangra Goes Back To School! The Band who got the whole audience dancing last year are running workshops at Dartmouth Academy on Friday. The students will have the opportunity to work with the professional musicians to learn about Indian rhythms, Bhangra dance and song.

Originating in the cultural traditions of the Punjab in India the music is celebratory, joyful and fun and the students will have hands on experience of Indian percussion instruments, learn some call and return vocals and Bhangra dance moves.

Later in the day the students will perform at the Bandstand in Dartmouth with the RSVP musicians as they put on a show of what they have learned. What a great start for the Dart Music Festival 2013. If you have never ‘screwed in the light bulb’ don’t miss it.

Please check your Festival Programme for full details of these workshops.
