1000 word GENERAL RELEASE

The countdown to the Dart Music Festival 2020 has begun!

Taking place on 15th, 16th and 17th of May, the 23rd Dart Music Festival hosts over 100 acts performing in over 15 venues situated all around the town.  Our acts perform in venues as unique as an ancient fort, the ramparts of old castle walls, a fisherman’s church, an 11th century church, the river and, of course, our Victorian Bandstand. There are also open-air street-based performances making for a constant buzz of enjoyment.

Running up to the event, we have a couple of fantastic fundraising events happening to help us raise some of the £80,000 needed to stage three days of free music for all.  Just watch the website  – your one-stop-shop for all things happening that weekend. You can register for our monthly newsletter, you’ll get all the news first, plus options to book venues with limited places that do fill up quick.

We even have an extremely popular directory of local services, including accommodation and eateries, here on this site called – ‘Eat, Stay, Shop’  providing all you need to know about where to go, and what to do while you are in town.  You can also find sections on how and where to buy one of our iconic yellow programmes, where to buy our much sought after DMF branded merchandise, how to become a ‘Festival Friend’, how the music festival Foundation continues the Festival’s legacy throughout the year, and the story of how the very first Dart Music Festival came about all those years ago.

If you want to get ahead and listen to some of the bands in this year’s event then why not subscribe to our ‘Dart Music Festival’ YouTube channel, or follow our ‘Dart Music Festival 2020’ Spotify playlist.  That way you can decide who your new favourite band is before you even get here.

Once again we will be providing all of the pubs with our branded collectables and most importantly REUSEABLE plastic glasses. Each plastic pint glass is branded with the Dart Music Festival logo and can be kept and re-used throughout the event and then taken home afterwards as a memento.   We strongly believe that this will help the Festival drastically reduce the amount of litter left behind long after the last notes fade away. For what IS left behind, we have retained our partnership with the pioneering people of Devon Contract Waste. Their remarkable enterprise reduces the amount of rubbish that goes into landfill to ZERO! Zero to Landfill is a sustainable solution to waste management which provides materials to the manufacturing industry and creates jobs at all stages of the processing journey. It also saves resources and energy, reduces the Southwest’s carbon footprint, and promotes a sustainable business community. Further details can be found here.

For those of you who like to go paper-free, why not use our subscription service on the website which allows you to access the times and venues of the acts from your electronic devices.  For further details please check out the website.

As always, we are sticking to our ethos of ‘Music For All’ meaning that everyone can enjoy the music completely free of charge.  However, the £80,000 costs to run the festival do mount up, and you can contribute by becoming a sponsor, a ‘Festival Friend’, or simply by throwing some money in a collection bucket when you see one.   So why not visit the website here and make your donation now!  You can also show your support by purchasing DMF branded t-shirts, hoodies, rugby shirts, bags, the fantastically cuddly Dart Music Festival teddy bear and lots more!   These can be found both on the website  here – and over the Festival weekend in our luxurious merchandise tent located at the entrance to Avenue Gardens.

If you want to roll your sleeves up and get more involved, we are always on the look-out for willing volunteers to help us run the event – please let us know if you can help with collecting during the concerts, stewarding, running a venue, selling merchandise or generally mucking in – it’s all greatly appreciated, and it is so much fun! If you are interested, please drop us an email here.
